Getting emailed when a photo is held
Add an address and you get the photo plus Approve and Deny buttons.
In Event settings, enter an address under "Email me when a photo is held". You will get a message with the photo shown inside it, so you can judge without opening anything.
The Approve and Deny buttons open a page that asks you to confirm rather than acting immediately. That is deliberate — email scanners follow links, and a one-click approval could be triggered by software before a person ever looked.
Leaving the address blank simply means no emails. Held photos still wait on your dashboard either way.
